The Ayala High School Colorguard is the reigning 2017 Scholastic World Champion of Winter Guard Association of Southern California, and is a frequent WGI Regional Medalist. The Colorguard is a component of the Marching Band during the fall, using choreography and equipment to enhance the visual effect of the marching band show, and is judged as part of the overall visual appeal as well as in its own category. From January through April, the Colorguard competes in Winter Guard, an indoor Colorguard activity. In select years, the Winter Guard travels to Dayton, OH, to compete in the WGI Color Guard World Championships. The Colorguard program is under the direction of Gabe Escobedo.
