The Ayala Jazz Band is a year-long, audition-based class for intermediate and novice Jazz musicians. Students rehearse and perform many styles of music; swing, Afro-Cuban, Latin, samba, rock, funk, and contemporary. The Jazz Band attends a variety of local high school jazz festivals during the spring semester, including an annual tour to the prestigious Reno Jazz Festival, a four-day event at the end of April where over 300 performing groups from around the nation come to compete, and world renowned jazz musicians, clinicians, educators, and composers judge the event. The Jazz Band is led by Kyle Martinez.
